Paid self-parking is available at the Julian Lodge for $10, which isn’t too bad.

Another feature we really like about the Julian Lodge is that it’s pet-friendly. Just be aware that those bringing a furry friend will have to pay a fee of $50 per stay, and pets aren’t allowed in the rooms alone.

If planning to take on the notorious Pacific Crest Trail, the Julian Lodge is well-geared up for hikers. During peak hiking season, they offer laundry facilities and even a free-to-use community supply box.

Dating back to the 1890s, this delightful property will have you feeling as though you’re back in the gold rush era. In fact, it’s the oldest accommodation in the entire town, but it doesn’t feel that way at all.

Showcasing quintessential Victorian furnishings and rich interiors, the 16 guestrooms and cottages are like something from a castle.

Each room has its own unique style. You will find beautiful American antique queen-sized beds, lavish bathrooms with marble showers and plinth sinks. Plus stone patios or porches with clear vistas of the popular Main Street area.

All guests staying at Julian Gold Rush Hotel are treated to a two-course complimentary breakfast each morning, free-to-read newspapers, and unlimited use of high-speed Wi-Fi.

Nothing is more relaxing than chilling out in the private garden as the sun rises. All while indulging in a bowl of homemade granola and reading the paper.

Nearby you’ll find plenty of fun attractions, like the Pioneer Museum and Menghini Winery. Additionally, the gourmet Mexican restaurant, Quecho, is only down the street.

Orchard Hill Country Inn

Address: 2502 Washington St, Julian, CA 92036
Phone: (760) 270-2596
Website

Quick Info:

9.8/10 out of 356 reviews

The town’s splurge: lodge rooms plus cottages, breakfast, on-site Supperclub restaurant, firepit and gardens. Family-friendly despite the upscale feel.

If you’re looking to splurge in Julian, this is the place. Orchard Hill sits up above town with just 22 rooms split between a main lodge and a cluster of cottages, and it’s easily the most polished stay in a town where most lodging leans rustic. The cottages are the ones to book — most come with a gas fireplace, a private porch or deck, and a fridge, which makes a chilly mountain evening feel exactly the way you hoped it would.

What makes it feel like a proper treat is everything that comes with the room. A breakfast basket is delivered to your door each morning (think egg casseroles, oatmeal pancakes, fresh breads and granola), and in the late afternoon there are complimentary hors d’oeuvres with house wine and beer. Add plush robes, good toiletries, and fresh-baked cookies, and it’s the kind of place where you end up staying in rather than driving back down to Main Street. There’s also an on-site restaurant, gardens to wander, and massage and yoga available if you’re making a weekend of it.

This is the Julian pick for an anniversary, a birthday, or any trip where you want the mountain-getaway version with the edges smoothed off. It’s the priciest option in town, and it books out early in apple season — if you’re eyeing a fall weekend, reserve well ahead.

Apple Tree Inn

Address – 4360 CA-78, Julian, CA 92036, United States
Phone – 760-765-0222

The Apple Tree Inn isn’t like the other Julian bed & breakfasts. It’s located on gorgeous grounds with clear mountainscapes everywhere you look, and it’s only five minutes from Julian Town.

Across the road, you’ll find the tasty Heroes Wood-Fired Pizzeria and the California Mountain Bakery. Both are well worth a look during your holiday.

The property has been recently remodeled. It now features queen-sized beds, a fully stocked kitchenette, cozy couches, patios, AC and heating units, plus Keurig coffee makers.

Another thing we loved about the Apple Tree Inn was the range of bespoke facilities.

The outdoor swimming pool was excellent for cooling down after a full day in the Californian sun. Plus, high-speed Wi-Fi was available throughout the complex, and the picnic areas were fantastic for daily lunch from Jeremy’s On The Hill, located next door.

There are quite a few room types available here, but a customer favorite is the three-bedroom Farmhouse. Yes, it’s a bit more expensive, but it’s geared toward bigger groups and absolutely worth the extra few bucks.

No matter the room, you’re sure to enjoy your stay here.

The Tucker Peak Lodge

Address – 3975 Eagle Peak Rd, Julian, CA 92036
Phone – 760-765-3975

This includes king-size beds, ample indoor seating areas, fireplaces, flat-screen TVs, and much more.

This is the perfect accommodation if you’re traveling with a large group, as there are a few room options that cater to large groups. For example, the Family Suite holds four people, and the Six Bedroom House can take up to 20 occupants.

Similar to other hotels on this list, Tucker Peak Lodge has plenty of facilities for visitors to enjoy during their vacation.

Cook your meals in the modern common kitchen, equipped with a microwave and other appliances. The laundry facilities are open at various times of day and are available to use upon request.

The outdoor deck is a superb location for a glass of wine after a long day exploring the Julian countryside. It’s one of the many features that make this a favorite among Julian, California hotels.

The property is hidden away, just a short walk from town. It’s close to an abundance of dining options, like Fat Anthony’s Italian Delicatessen and the Julian Pie Company; it’s hard to find a flaw in Oak Hill’s location.

The Oak Hill Inn only has three guest rooms, and they’ve gone above and beyond to ensure these are of the highest quality. The special attention guarantees all guests a magnificent stay. The guest rooms are for 2 people, and the property is adults-only, so it is perfect for a romantic getaway.

The queen suites provide great value for the money. They have all the amenities you could ask for, like a flat-screen cable TV, kitchenette, mini fridge, Keurig coffee machine, free in-room Wi-Fi, and much more.

Where to Stay in Julian – FAQs

Where should you stay in Julian?

Julian’s lodging is mostly historic inns, B&Bs, and cabins rather than chain hotels — staying in town puts you within walking distance of Main Street and the pie shops. If Julian is booked, nearby Wynola, Santa Ysabel, and Ramona are all a short drive.

Do you need to book Julian accommodation in advance?

Yes, especially in fall. Julian is a small town with limited rooms, and apple-season weekends (September–October) often book out weeks ahead. Winter snow weekends fill quickly too.

Is it worth staying overnight in Julian?

If you want more than pie, yes. An overnight lets you catch Main Street before the day-trippers arrive, eat a proper dinner, and see the night sky — Julian is far enough from the city for genuine stargazing.

How far is Julian from San Diego?

About an hour to 90 minutes east of downtown San Diego by car, climbing to roughly 4,200 feet in the Cuyamaca Mountains.

Does it snow in Julian?

It can, usually a few times each winter. Snow days draw big crowds from the coast, so expect traffic. Snow is pretty sporadic in Julian, so it is hard to book ahead, but as soon as you hear about a potential snow day in Julian in the forecast, see if you get lucky and book asap.

What’s the best time to visit Julian?

Fall for apples and the harvest atmosphere — though note that apple season is running early in 2026, with orchards expecting to be picked out by the end of September or early October. Winter for snow and Christmas in Julian; spring and summer for hiking with far fewer crowds.
