After all, staying at one of these dreamy boutique hotels in Laguna Beach is all part of the total getaway experience.
For a relatively small Southern California coastal town, Laguna Beach has some lovely accommodations If the large luxurious resorts are your gig, you can definitely find them here as well.

But to be honest, we’ve found that Laguna Beach is best enjoyed through its boutique hotels with their unique character, and more personalized service encompassing much more of a local feel. Ranging from luxurious to a more classic beach town vibe, whatever your preference, you can find it here.
Let’s look at some of our favorites in this delightful SoCal treasure by the sea. They were selected by personal experience, views, overall ambiance, and of course if they provided a good fit for visiting one of Southern California’s most beautiful beach towns.

Nestled on a rocky cliff perched over the Pacific Ocean and Main Beach, the Inn at Laguna Beach is one of our top choices when we head up the coast. It’s impossible to beat the stunning views from this venue. And because it overlooks the promenade, one of Southern California’s most picturesque ocean paths, it’s exceptionally convenient for both morning walks or sunset strolls.
The 70-room laid-back luxury hotel features king and queen rooms with ocean or village views. Each is tastefully appointed with rattan furnishings. Beds are extremely comfortable and include down duvet comforters. Outdoor balconies provide rattan seating with a table. Bathrooms have walk-in-showers, soft luxury towels and high-end toiletries.
One of our favorite hotel spots is the rooftop terrace offering absolutely stunning views of the Laguna Beach coastline, especially at sunset. And we love their sunset happy hour with complimentary red and white wines, and the opportunity to meet and mingle with other guests who also adore this lovely venue.
A $30 per night resort fee covers beach chairs, umbrellas, other beach equipment, and parking.

Our first visit to this lovely warm surf-themed property was by chance and ended up being quite a treat. We’d originally planned to book another property which ended up with no availability. We still talk about how coming here was ‘all in the cards.’
This charming 36-room inn located on two floors is decorated with beach-inspired local vintage pieces and vibrant nautical colors. The property was a former motel that was completely renovated to resemble a throwback 70s seaside retreat with stunning views of the Pacific. It really is adorable! And when the evening settles in, the outdoor twinkling string lights surrounding the pool area are simply magical.
The location is perfect and within easy walking distance to downtown Laguna Beach and Main Beach. Guests can choose from queen or king coastal and pool/garden view rooms. Pool-level deluxe guest rooms also feature a private patio.
Beds are super comfy and the bathrooms include a walk-in shower and tub. Another benefit of staying at the property is the invitation to join guests at the hotel’s sister property, the Inn at Laguna Beach, for complimentary snacks and wine at sunset. A $25 resort fee here covers parking and beach equipment.

This hotel dating back to the 1900s is one of Laguna Beach’s most historic treasures. The castle-like enclave nestled high above the Pacific Ocean on the inland side of Highway 101 contains only 23 rooms but the rambling multi-leveled property makes it seem so much larger.
All king and queen rooms were beautifully restored in 2016 using Moroccan influences, Moorish tiles, and ceramics. This all blends beautifully with the blue, red, and terra cotta representing the hotel’s Spanish architectural roots. Accommodations here include garden and ocean view rooms along with a junior suite, one-bedroom suite, and a bungalow, located in a private location.

Though there is a property fee of $30 per night, the hotel sports a large outdoor pool, a rooftop terrace & restaurant with stunning sunset views, free parking, and a complimentary daily European breakfast. But it’s the property itself we found absolutely breathtaking. Palm trees, tropical plants, and potted flowers are everywhere, and it’s honestly one of the most beautiful Laguna Beach boutique hotels you’ll ever experience.

I realize this 21-room, 2-floor hotel only has a two-star rating, but this place is so darn cute, we believe it’s underrated, deserving of at least another ½ star. As a matter of fact, a couple we met here from L.A. say they’ve been coming to this property for 15 years because “it has such a warm, welcoming feel.” And it really does.
While rooms are not luxurious or fancy, they are pleasing, clean, and comfortable, and some even include a furnished kitchen. Turn the clock back, and you’re back in a classic SoCal beach town setting common of the 1950s and 60s.
Accommodations include extra-long full beds, queens, or kings. Located just three blocks north of Main Beach makes this an ideal location. A heated saltwater pool, outdoor barbeque pit, and fireplace are other nice amenities, especially on a cooler evening. Parking is complimentary, and bottom line, this is a perfect place for those looking for a weekend getaway without breaking the bank.

This adults-only beach hotel often called “a gem hidden in plain sight” is located above picturesque Shaw’s Cove. Providing a completely different type of experience, the 22-room inn celebrates the strong Spanish heritage of Laguna Beach.
A former motor inn, Joaquin was purchased in 2016 and underwent a massive floor-to-ceiling restoration. We love the eclectic mix of the 1950s Southern California beach culture with the timelessness of the Mediterranean coast. Each room with premium bedding is decorated with unique vintage pieces. Bathrooms feature marble vanities, imported monolithic stone, handcrafted tiles, and solid brass fixtures.
Each accommodation sports a king bed and prices obviously vary according to location, several with stunning ocean views. The sparkling pool area is outfitted with high-end, comfy outdoor furniture. Breakfast includes a nourishing, handcrafted meal, and the hotel’s onsite restaurant Saline is open for breakfast, light bites, and dinner from a Mediterranean-inspired menu.

Laguna’s classic beach hotel, La Casa Del Camino was built in the Mediterranean style with graceful arches, rustic wooden balconies, and vintage Spanish décor. Just entering the lobby is a treat.

And what about room types? Of course, there are Spanish king and queen accommodations with classic Spanish headboards and furnishings. Casa Surf rooms invite guests to experience the Laguna Beach surf culture with their hand-painted and signature surfboards, underwater photo murals, and beachy bedding and fixtures. Either of these room choices is totally classy. It just depends on your individual taste.
If you really want a unique experience, La Casa Del Camino features La Casita, an exclusive 3-bedroom 3-bath vacation rental located on the beach offering a private cottage that can accommodate up to six guests. It features a full kitchen, loft with a sitting room, a private deck with furniture, a gas grill, and a washer and dryer. This is a totally different way to experience the charm and magic of Laguna Beach.
Located less than 100 steps from Cress Street Beach, the hotel is also within walking distance of other area beaches and ½-mile from some of Laguna Beach’s most popular parks, shops, and restaurants.
The Rooftop Lounge is open daily for appetizers, lunch, and cocktails.
A $20 daily resort fee includes self-parking, beach equipment rentals, use of the workout center, and high-speed WiFi.

A famous gate built in 1935 standing at the corner of Forest and Park Avenues in the heart of Laguna Beach reads” This gate hangs well and hinders none, refresh and rest, then travel on.”
It couldn’t describe a stay in Laguna Beach any better. It’s the perfect beach town to chill, relax, explore, dine on delectable food, head to the beach, or do whatever you choose on a weekend getaway.
